Code of Conduct

Code of Conduct: Harassment & Safe Space Policy

GameDevCT is dedicated to providing a friendly, welcoming, and safe space community for everyone. We work to create a professional environment where all people regardless of sex, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, appearance, ethnicity, or religion are accepted and respected. This code of conduct outlines our expectations for behavior as well as the consequences for unacceptable behavior. Harassment is not tolerated.

Harassment includes any behavior that antagonizes, alarms, demeans, discriminates, intimidates, or threatens another person or group. This includes (but is not limited to) offensive comments, bigotry, hateful rhetoric/symbols, intimidation, stalking or following, harassing photography or recording, disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. Parties asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.

If someone engages in behavior that violates this policy, or at our sole discretion, the organizers may take any action they deem appropriate. If a resolution to the problem cannot be reached between all parties, actions will be taken to remove the party in question from the mailing list, social media sites, and/or disallow entry to future events run by GameDevCT. In more serious cases, organizers can help facilitate communication with the appropriate authorities on a case-by-case basis.

We value the attendance of every individual at the events held by GameDevCT, and want everyone to feel safe throughout the duration of our events. If you are being harassed, or notice that someone is participating in harassing behavior, please notify an organizer. Your privacy is of utmost importance to us. Any reports of harassment will be treated as anonymous and your name will not be included in any communication with the offending parties unless specifically requested.

GameDevCT is a diverse space meant to foster collaboration and growth, as well as a place to make friends. As creators showing works-in-progress, we’re putting ourselves in a vulnerable state. Therefore it should be everyone’s goal to ensure a professional, positive, supportive, and constructive environment. Please keep these in mind when talking about or commenting on the work of others. Also remember that, in general, this is a safe for work community.

We’re hopefully all here to learn, grow, and make some friends who are interested in game development. So let’s keep it an amazing community for everyone.

This is a living document as we are continually refining and reassessing our community’s needs, as such this document may be changed at any time.

Thank you for your help.
