Global Game Jam 2024!

Hello, game dev enthusiasts! We’re once again hosting the annual Global Game Jam in Connecticut from January 26th to the 28th! This is an opportunity to meet other devs and collaborate on creating a game within a certain amount of time.

At the time of writing, we only have one site participating, which is Quinnipiac University. We’ve also updated on our website with a regularly updated list of participating jam sites. Feel free to check it out at https://gamedevct.org/2024-global-game-jam-info/!

Some of our sites will vary between in-person, hybrid, and online. All jam sites listed on our website will have links to their GGJ sites with all the required information.

This is a unique occasion to network with other games industry enthusiasts and spend the weekend collaborating on a project. Happy gaming, and we hope to see you there!

Thank you,

December 2023 Mixer!

Hello, game dev enthusiasts! Our next mixer will be held on December 9th from 1pm to 4pm at UConn’s Bishop Center in room 146 (first floor, first room).

This is an exciting opportunity to meet local devs and share your work. Feel free to bring anything you need for your digital and/or tabletop games. We’re also encouraging attendees to potentially find team members for the upcoming Global Game Jam!

Our first presentation will be by UConn Professor Ken Thompson, Abrahamic Aleppo, followed by a rapid-fire of student game presentations from UConn, the University of New Haven, Quinnipiac University, and other indies.

Abrahamic Aleppo is a UConn Global Affairs and Gladstein Family Human Rights Institute | Dodd Impact project that highlights culture and arts through a narrative, interactive experience. Players take on the role of a young child tasked with helping their family host a traditional garden party in 1928. During the experience, the player explores key locations such as a coffee house, a marketplace, an affluent private home, the Baron Hotel, and the local neighborhood. While playing, they engage in cultural crafts such as soap making, puppetry, and tarab, while interacting with fictional characters whose stories highlight human rights themes through an Abrahamic lens.
